The Sprig Pin is made in sterling silver with 18k gold overlay and set with tiny faux pearls. Measures 1 1/2" x 2 3/8"

The card enclosed with the brooch reads:
"It is said that in 1759, George Washington ordered a gold and garnet aigrette (hair ornament) from London, England for his beloved wife Martha. History does not tell us the size of the aigrette but a sprig remains of the original design and is displayed at Mount Vernon."
