These brooches are designed after styles that come to popularity in the early 19th Century and stay fashionable through the Victorian era.  These were commonly worn at the top of the bodices of this period, as is shown in the portrait here from 1830. 

These are available in clear crystal (in Gold or Silver plate) or in Sapphire/Crystal and Garnet in Gold plate.
